I am very much into camping and the outdoors and i camp every chance i can get! Tent camping requires a great deal of camping equipment as you will need to have a tent and camping gear such as sleeping bags, camping cookware, food and camp safety supplies, but the investment in a tent and all the camping gear you will need is well worth the expense. Camping is fun and enjoyable for the whole family. I would like to give the beginners to camping some tips and tricks that would save them from some of the mistakes that i have made and learned the hard way. Don’t be one of those new unprepared and unorganized campers! Camping is a great stress reliever and is very relaxing and fun, but if you don’t know some of the important factors it can turn into a very stressful bad experience that might turn you off from ever trying it again. One thing to always remember is be prepared for all types of situations that might arise. Be prepared and orginized! i can’t stress this enough! Don’t get to your campsite late in the evening and end up trying to put your tent up and doing everything else in the dark “Be prepared and organized!”
Tip #1
I always lay out all of my gear, food and everything else that i would need for the amount of time that i will be out camping. I always use a check list that has all of the gear and essentials that i need listed and as i pack them i check them off on the list. Before i started using this method i found that many times i forgot to pack something that i really needed and had left it behind.
Tip #2
Always make sure that you have the right gear and that you are familiar with that gear before your camping trip and be prepared for all situations that might arise. Pack warmer clothes and rain gear as the weather can be very unpredictable and it’s better to be prepared and have it and not use it than to need it and not have it. Get to know your gear before you get it out there. Some tents are easier to set up than others, so when i buy a new tent i always practice and set it up in the back yard and at night too so i will have no problems when i get out there on a camping trip. Always use a footprint or some kind of floor saver like tyvek cloth to protect the floor of your tent. Tyvek cloth works very well and is affordable. Use some king of sleeping pad or air mattress! you really don’t want to sleep on the cold hard ground. The very first thing that i do before i set up my tent is, i look up in the trees above where i want to set up my tent and make sure there are no dead trees or big branches that look like they are ready to fall if there would be a storm.
Tip #3
This is a necessity! Always bring a basic first aid kit that includes band aids, neosporin, alcohol wipes and aspirin. I also bring poison ivy block and cortizone for insect bites and itch and don’t forget to bring insect repellent! the repellent with deet is the best for mosquitoes.
Tip #4
Make sure that you bring enough food and water for your camping trip! There might not be a grocery store nearby and one of the great pleasures of camping is grilling and eating good and also bring some foods that need little to no preparation.
I am new to camping and i am interested in going camping this summer and i would like to know of a pretty good quality 3 to 4 person tent to buy. Could some of you camping experts give me some ideas on a good tent to buy?
Check out the Tetragon 9, it say it sleeps 4-5 people so you’ll have some elbow room, but not so much that you won’t be able to find a campsite. The dome’s a versatile feature for just about any terrain and the detachable rainfly means the tent can breathe which is important for rainy humid seasons.

I couldn’t agree more with the organizing comment. Too often you’ll find newbies (and I’m not that far off) scrambling to find their gear or putting up their tent to flashlight.
